Xbox Conference 2024: between certainties and rumors, we have listed 25 games that we could see! | Xbox

The Xbox Games Showcase 2024 conference is fast approaching. The meeting is set for June 9, the opportunity for the manufacturer to present the next productions from Xbox Game Studios, but also from Bethesda and Activision and Blizzard. But then, what should we expect? We take stock.

Xbox games already announced for this year 2024 and which we are (almost) sure to see

Before dreaming and looking into the rumors, it is necessary to recall which games developed by Xbox are planned for this year since it is very likely that they will all be shown during the event. Here are 13 games we’re almost certain to see at the Xbox conference.

  • Officialized on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Age of Empires license in 2022, Age of Mythology: Retold took advantage of the “New Year, New Age” event to begin to reveal itself, in particular with an overview of the creatures, but also the appearance of the Steam page, the opportunity to finally discover gameplay images. Since the title is planned for the year 2024 on Xbox and PC, we can legitimately expect that World’s Edge will show more during the conference and that the release date will finally be revealed.
  • Indiana Jones and the Ancient Circle is certainly the Xbox exclusive that will get the most attention this year. Its release is still scheduled for 2024, most likely at the very end of the year.
  • Asobo Studio unveiled Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 last year with splendid extracts, allowing us to learn in particular that this opus will offer new perspectives, with the possibility of using your flight license to serve several trades! As its name suggests, it will be available in 2024, still on Xbox Series X|S and PC. Being a great technological showcase for the brand, it is obvious that it will be present during the event.
  • Next game from Oxide Games, Ara: History Untold will be available in fall 2024 and we can therefore hope to see it during the conference. 4X enthusiasts would be wrong not to take an interest in it, as Oxide Games was founded by veterans of the field and the creators of classic strategy and management titles such as Civilization V. It will be in a second phase available on consoles.
  • Stoic launched its insider program so that a handful of players could test Towerborne in advance, but the game remains scheduled to be released in 2024 on Xbox and PC as well as day one in Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass. The game already seems very advanced and should not take too long to show up.
  • Avowed has been announced since July 2020 and the game will be released in fall 2024. The new big RPG is developed by Obsidian, to whom we owe The Outer Worlds, Pillars of Eternity and Fallout: New Vegas. Suffice to say that the studio knows how to tell stories and take us into immersive worlds!

A presentation dedicated to the next Call of Duty

Right after the Xbox Games Showcase will be a presentation of a mystery game, which promises “a special immersion in the next installment of a beloved franchise.” In reality, all clues point to the new Call of Duty, which would be Black Ops 6.

It will take place during the Gulf War and would integrate Xbox Game Pass directly on the day of its release, according to the latest information from the Wall Street Journal.

Service games and extensions that could respond

Xbox has numerous service games in its catalog, but also more recent titles which will soon receive expansions. We can therefore expect to see them during the Xbox Games Showcase, especially since the console has already done so during previous conferences.

  • Diablo IV will certainly be present at the conference since the first major expansion of the game, Vessel of Hatred, will be released at the end of 2024 and must be shown this summer.
  • Starfield will also very likely be there since the game’s first expansion, Shattered Space, is also arriving at the end of the year.
  • Age of Empires III will be entitled to a new expansion at the end of 2024 which will give access to two new civilizations. One of them would be Denmark, the other the Republic of the Two Nations and there is a good chance that Xbox will talk about it this summer.
  • Fallout 76’s new big update, Skyline Valley, is due out in June and could have its place in the conference or in an “extended” version of the conference like Xbox is used to. This is a major update, as it will be possible to discover a whole new game area, place your CAMP there, experience new stories and face new enemies.
  • The Elder Scrolls Online could also take a turn since we know the roadmap for the game this year. The New Chapter Gold Road arrives in June and will be followed by Update 43 which will notably bring a new functionality related to houses. He too could appear in the “extended” version of the Xbox conference, often offered a few days later.
  • Sea of Thieves usually gives its news during the Xbox conference and with availability on PS5, the game now reaches more players than ever. This will be an opportunity to present its new season to us. Last year, Rare announced a big collaboration with Monkey Island.
  • Since Overwatch 2 Season 10 will end at the end of June, we can expect Xbox to put the spotlight on it, as in previous years.

Xbox games that could also show up: concrete facts and rumors

Xbox has a bunch of games already announced and about which we haven’t seen much, often via a simple CG announcement trailer. And then others that we have been talking about for months, even sometimes years, in rumor. Here are a few that could well be presented this year.

  • Fable was announced by the Playground Games studio in July 2020, the game has been in development since at least 2018. A small in-game video was released by Xbox during the summer of 2023 and it is not impossible that the game will be released. shows in more detail during this conference.
  • Contraband was announced by Avalanche Studios in June 2021. The game is published by Xbox and has not given any sign of life since, but we hope that it will show up three years after the announcement.
  • Perfect Dark was announced by The Initiative in December 2020 and several rumors point to a presentation of the game this year. Jeff Grubb says he heard the same thing, answer very soon!
  • Gears 6, in any case a new episode of the series, could also be revealed at the Xbox Games Showcase 2024. Journalists Jeff Grubb and Tom Warren, often very well informed, say they have heard of an announcement. Tom Warren even teased the announcement of another project around the license
  • A new Doom game could also be announced by id Software, which has not released a game since Doom Eternal in 2020. Earlier this year, we discovered that Bethesda had registered the IDKFA trademark, a reference to the cheat code of Doom which gave right to all weapons, ammo and keys.
  • Everwild was announced by studio Rare in November 2019 and we know that the development of the game evolved after its announcement. Evolution or new direction? We don’t know yet, but it might be time for Rare to give some news about her new baby.
  • State of Decay 3 is also part of this wave of games announced early by Xbox. It was Undead Labs who revealed it in July 2020 through a CG trailer. It would be time to actually show the game now.
  • OD was announced by studio Kojima Productions in December 2023, but the game had been rumored for several years before that. It must therefore be at a fairly advanced stage of development, this would be a good opportunity to show it.
  • inXile lifted the veil on Clockwork Revolution in June 2023 with a trailer which already included gameplay in addition to game cinematics. The title already seems close to the end of its development, it would have its place at the Xbox Games Showcase.
  • Zenimax Online could well lift the veil on the new game that the studio has been working on for years. Last April, a new clue suggested that the title would not be an Xbox exclusive, which seems quite logical when we know that it specializes in massively multiplayer online games.
  • Announced last year by Compulsion Games, we can hope that South of Midnight will show up again. The release of the game should now be close, as the studio’s last production, We Happy Few, already dates from 2018.

Xbox games already announced, but which we probably won’t see this time

Finally, there are all those Xbox games that have already been announced, but are, in our eyes, not yet ready to benefit from a slot at this year’s conference. We list them here anyway to show the extent of the Xbox catalog today.

Third party games

  • Postponed several times, STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl is now scheduled for September 5, 2024 on Xbox Series X|S and PC. It will integrate Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass directly on the day of its release and should at least show itself with a trailer at the Microsoft conference as a highly anticipated game.
  • ARK 2 was announced in December 2020, but still no gameplay videos have been shared by Studio Wildcard. Having accustomed players to multiple postponements, it would not be surprised if the title finally slides to 2025. In any case, it is planned for Xbox Series X|S, PC and will arrive directly in Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass.
