The best applications to follow your series on Android

Are you looking for an application to help you navigate the series you watch? Know which episode you are in, when is the next one coming? We have selected seven applications that will help you watch your series in the most organized way possible.

With the resurgence in the number of popular series, we can quickly get lost in our follow-up. To help you organize your series monitoring, here are some applications to be on top of the organization.

Trakt: an automated system and a mobile application

Basically, Trakt is an online service that has one objective: to automate series tracking. With Trakt, you no longer need, when your account is created, to go into an application to check the box for an episode of a series when you have seen it. Trakt does it for you automatically. You can select compatible media players and streaming sites so that as soon as you’ve seen an episode, Trakt will check it for you. It is compatible with different services like Netflix, Kodi, VLC or Archos Video.

This system is still in use today. However, Trakt has developed its own mobile application, which allows you to know where you are in viewing your favorite series, but also to be informed of the platforms which broadcast the content, thanks to a partnership with JustWatch. The application lists series recommendations based on your tastes and previously viewed series and community suggestions, and also allows you to consult detailed statistics.

The service is free, but offers in-app VIP subscriptions allowing you to remove advertising, access advanced filters and statistics, create as many personal lists as you want and a few other features besides. Note that you will have to pay at least $30 per year and that the application is in English.

JustWatch: to find out which platform to watch your series on

JustWatch not only allows you to know where you are in the episodes of your favorite series, but also to know on which streaming platform you can watch them. No less than 80 VoD and SVoD platforms are listed in this search engine.

And if you are waiting for a film or series that has not yet been released, the “ Notify me» will send you a notification when it is available. The service and the mobile application are practical and well thought out and provide complete information on content to form an informed opinion before watching it.

If you are a fan of football, tennis, Formula 1 or other sporting events, JustWatch also references them and displays the platforms that offer to follow these international competitions.

As with competing applications, JustWatch is free, but offers an in-app subscription system at 2.39 euros per month. This removes advertising, gives you the possibility of creating up to 100 personal lists, taking advantage of advanced filters and hiding titles that you have already seen or that you do not like.

TV Time: the reference

TV Time is the most popular series tracking application. With more than 5 million downloads on Android, this French application — cocorico — is also present on iOS.

It quickly became the reference in its field with its various features such as viewing statistics which include your number of episodes seen, and the time spent watching them for example. We also have a notification system for the arrival of an episode and widgets for the home screen.

It also offers a system for proposing articles and podcasts depending on the series you watch and allows you to interact with the growing community on the application.

The application is 100% free and was one of our apps of the week.

MovieBase: Track Series & Films: a wealth of information on your films and series

Using Trakt, but also IMDB and other community bases, Moviebase makes it easy to manage the series you watch, plan your watchlist easily thanks to the calendar and organize yourself easily thanks to the numerous sorting criteria and categories. Its advanced filter system allows you to filter content by platform, by genre, if it is a film or series, by rating, etc.

The other strong point of MovieBase is to offer a lot of detailed information on films and series, but also actors, actresses and other cinema celebrities. For multimedia content, you can consult reviews and comments, but also recommendations for other series, watch trailers, download images and wallpapers. You will also be able to give your opinion and rate the film or series.

Incidentally, a progress bar shows you where you are in watching your series (in percentage) to know if you are close to the end or if you have just started it.

In terms of the commercial system, it is identical to other applications with a monthly subscription of 1.19 euros to remove advertising or a one-time purchase of 42.99 euros for a lifetime license with more advanced features.

Hobi: the challenger with an almost perfect design

Right now, the standard in terms of design is minimalism. You need something aesthetic, but simple and if possible with a dark theme. Hobi understood this well. It is clearly the best application in terms of design in this selection, whether on Android or iOS. It’s not lacking in functionality either!

With a large catalog of series to follow, you should find what you’ve already seen to fill your list. It will therefore offer you statistics on what you have seen and suggestions for series to watch according to your tastes. Hobi can also be linked to your Trakt.tv account, which is a significant advantage as this automated series viewing tracking service begins to become popular.

Please note that the application is only available in English.

The application is free, but has a premium mode to remove advertisements (which are not disturbing), be available on an unlimited number of devices and have additional statistics, etc.

The premium version costs 7.99 euros per year or 21.98 euros forever, but you can also have 3 months of free premium by inviting 3 friends to use the application. However, you can clearly settle for the free version.

CineTrak: Reviews Matter

When you look for series tracking applications, you quickly come across CineTrak. This application gives pride of place to user opinions in its interface. As soon as you arrive on the application, you have a list of the most trending series of the moment. If we swipe to the right, we have the most popular, then the most played, etc.

On this reception, we see for each series its rating and the number of people watching it thanks to the implementation of Trakt.tv which is even more at the center of the application than on Hobi.

On this very nice design based on swipes, we feel a certain satisfaction because the navigation is so fluid. You can even use it for watching films since it also offers this service.

The application is free, but has a premium version to remove advertisements (a banner at the bottom of the application), personalized selections or even thematic lists, etc.

The premium version ranges from $3.99 to $99.99 depending on your preferences. It is complicated to settle for the free version as it remains restricted compared to the premium.

SeriesGuide: open source and without ads

SeriesGuide is quite similar to CineTrak or Hobi. It has a pleasant design, equally pleasant navigation and also compatibility with Trakt.tv. But each of these apps is different for a reason.

For SeriesGuide, apart from the fact that it isopen source, what caught our eye was the presence of a widget. So yes, TV Time has it too, but here SeriesGuide maintains compatibility with Trakt. We can therefore have upcoming series based on our Trakt account in this widget.

The application is free with a premium mode which adds notifications, a clear theme and additional options for the famous widget. This premium version costs 4.99 euros per year or 24.99 euros for a lifetime license.

You now have all the cards in hand to optimize the monitoring of your series and never miss an episode again!
