Where and when to watch the July 2020 Xbox Games Showcase conference – the official date

The Xbox Games Showcase conference can be followed exclusively online. Following the cancellation of E3 2020, the show will be broadcast live here on Xboxygen. This conference is called the Xbox Games Showcase, which clearly shows that the focus will be on games.

  • When : July 23, 2020, official date
  • What time : 6 p.m. French time – pre-show at 5 p.m. with world premiere announcements
  • Or : Here on Xboxygen. The video below will start on its own at the appointed time.
  • How long : The conference will last approximately one hour
  • Exchange with the community: on our Discord!

The Xbox Games Showcase will be broadcast in 1080p and 60fps and will immediately be available in 4K and 60 fps.

A pre-show will be launched from 5 p.m. Xbox teams confirm that announcements will be made in the hour leading up to the event with previews. We don’t know if these will be new games announced or something else, but we’re leaning towards a little aperitif with information on games that we already know. We could imagine information on the Gears 5 optimizations on Xbox Series X, or on the next productions which will be released this summer such as Microsoft Flight Simulator or Wasteland 3.

When we know that more than 60 games will be available in demo on Xbox during the week of July 20, it will therefore clearly be placed under the sign of the Xbox X!

What games will be shown at the Xbox conference in July?

The conference will be an opportunity for Microsoft to unveil titles from its own studios, Xbox Studios. With around fifteen entities to its credit and several teams within, Microsoft has a future catalog which should be well-filled to supply the Xbox Series X and Xbox Game Pass with new productions. Halo Infinite has been confirmed for the conference and we can expect to see gameplay of the game on Xbox Series X for the very first time.

Here is the list of what could be shown at the Xbox conference in July.

  • Halo Infinite: the new Halo will be released at the end of the year with the Xbox Series things up to date. The Halo Infinite video will certainly raise the bar in terms of graphics rendering and should make the title the showcase of the Xbox Series X. According to Jez Corden, the gameplay has already been recorded and should be very solid. The Xbox teams have confirmed that we will see the game’s campaign.
  • Gears 5: we suspect that the next Xbox Series , 60 fps, 120 fps (in multiplayer) and Ray tracing depending on the reworked titles.
  • Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2: Ninja Theory made its new baby official at the end of last year with a very visually striking trailer and would definitely deserve to reveal the first phases of gameplay of the game, for example to demonstrate the capabilities of the Xbox Series X with Ray Tracing.
  • Fable: developed by Playground Games if we are to believe the persistent rumors of recent years, this new Fable game would be an ideal candidate to be announced during a big event this summer if Microsoft wanted to give a little perspective on what happens in the coming years.
  • Age of Empires IV: we must not forget that Xbox now has the ambition to also release everything on PC and that this platform must be highlighted during an Xbox conference. This would be the ideal time to present the long-awaited game for strategy enthusiasts, which was already treated to a (too) short teaser last year.
  • Microsoft Flight Simulator: still in the PC world, the Xbox conference in July could announce the release date of the beta version of the game, but also show some jaw-dropping new gameplay. The game was recently confirmed for Xbox Series Remember, however, that the game will arrive on Xbox Game Pass as soon as it is released.
  • Everwild: Rare’s next big production was treated to a nice trailer presenting its shimmering graphics and we are still waiting to find out more about its universe and its gameplay mechanics. Another good candidate for an E3 type conference.
  • Forza Motorsport: Turn10 took its time on this new opus and what would a new Xbox launch be without a new Forza? The studio has been working on the game for a while and this would be a good opportunity to show us the new features of this episode which promises to be slightly different from what we are used to. The community would have been heavily involved in the development of this next-gen Forza Motorsport.
  • First game from The Initiative: the Santa Monica studio is young but Microsoft could choose this moment to give a vision of their first project, just to reassure Xbox players. For sure, it will be an ambitious game, and rumors point to a certain Perfect Dark.
  • New title from Double Fine: in addition to Psychonauts 2 which is due to be released this year, we know that the studio is working on another game for Xbox, and that it will contain multiplayer. This type of conference is always a good opportunity to announce new developments.

Just in the list above, we realize that the potential is there, and that’s without counting the surprises that should arrive from Xbox studios. But the conference could also include third-party games, that is to say those supported by publishers other than Xbox, such as Activision, Ubisoft, Devolver, Warner Bros. or Electronic Arts. According to the Shinobi insider, whose reliability is no longer in doubt, this July conference “is going to set things on fire”, just that!

Here are some third-party productions that could be presented.

  • Cyberpunk 2077: what would a big Xbox conference be without Cyberpunk 2077? The marketing deal between Xbox and CD Projekt goes far, as we saw with the controller and the Xbox One of him here.
  • Dying Light 2 Stay Human: postponed several times, the game was presented several times during events alongside Xbox. This would be an opportunity to show it in its best light.
  • Saints Row: Volition has confirmed that the game will be revealed in 2020 and “it will be awesome.”
  • Mass Effect Trilogy Remastered: Rumors of a remastered version of Mass Effect have been around for some time and there are signs that an announcement could be made during this Xbox Games Showcase.
  • The Medium: announced last May, the game could well present itself with gameplay. The developer has indeed indicated that the Xbox Games Showcase would be one to follow with interest.

Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S: a release date and a price?

We already know a lot about the Xbox Series X, but the two main pieces of information are missing: a release date and a price! Since this July Xbox conference will focus on games, Microsoft should not reveal new information about its new Xbox.

For its part, Sony has still not announced the price of the PS5, but everything suggests that it will be around €500. However, the Japanese manufacturer implied that the entry ticket for its machine would not necessarily be very affordable (bluff?), and Microsoft opted for the opposite scheme in order to reassure, as Phil Spencer said a few years ago. weeks.

I feel good about the price we can get to. Both on price and the performance we have with the Xbox Series X. I feel the overall package incredibly strong. We think it’s a winning plan. We’re going to make sure we stay agile on price.

Aaron Greenberg, head of marketing at Xbox, confirmed that nothing has been delayed and that the Xbox teams are working hard on the upcoming Xbox online conference which will take place in July.

Faced with a PS5 Digital Edition lacking a Blu Ray player, Microsoft could have taken advantage of this event to finally announce the one that the rumor has designated for over a year under the code name “Xbox Lockhart”, and which could become the Xbox Series S. The latest rumors, however, point to an announcement in August. We believe that this is a reliable lead since in our opinion, Microsoft will announce the Xbox Series S when it is possible to communicate on the price of the two machines, and that players will be able to make their choice with full knowledge of the facts. . Pre-orders for the two consoles could also follow suit.

After the May conference which generally disappointed players, Microsoft says it has learned from the various reactions. What we have witnessed over the past few weeks was undoubtedly just an aperitif before the real next-gen launch which will take place with this Xbox Series X conference in July. Without revealing everything either, it is certain that Microsoft will announce new games from its studios during this event. Hopefully they can demonstrate the capabilities of the all-new Xbox Series X.
