Sony is hosting a new edition of its State of Play virtual event this Thursday, May 30. On the program: around thirty minutes which will allow you to discover several PS5 video games planned for the coming months. Numerama offers you a summary in the form of a live blog.

We are entering a fairly exciting period for video game fans: the moment that has long been occupied by E3, replaced by Summer Game Fest. As proof, Sony organized a new edition of State of Play on Thursday, May 30 – the second of 2024, already. The multinational has talked a lot about the PlayStation 5, since there was a need to announce dates to fill this year’s calendar.

E3 no longer exists, but the habits remain: in the coming weeks, several gaming conferences are planned. The Summer Game Fest conference will take place on Friday June 7 while Microsoft has scheduled the meeting on Sunday June 9. Sony has therefore pulled the rug out from under its main rival with this State of Play planned well in advance. The program ? “ Announcements on PS5 and PS VR2 titles, plus a look at PlayStation Studios games coming out later this year. »

Sony’s objective was to communicate on the rather vague schedule for the second half, after the first months which were not breathtaking (we recall that the year 2023 was quite exceptional in terms of releases). PlayStation 5 owners need reassurance. As expected, the Japanese firm will not reveal any information on the PlayStation 5 Pro, which has nevertheless been the subject of numerous leaks for several months.
