After testing the EcoFlow Glacier last week, I am starting to test a new product from this brand: theEcoFlow Delta 2 Max ! Behind this somewhat strange code name hides a portable power station capable of powering your electrical appliances with a total power of up to 3,400 W. The aim is to offer you emergency backup power supply to cope with outages or to allow you to live disconnected from the network. Does it work and to what extent? We will see this together!

EcoFlow Delta 2 Max: features
As previously stated, theEcoFlow Delta 2 Max is a portable power station. So it’s a srelatively compact and lightweight battery-powered system which will allow you to power electrical devices with alternating current via standard power outlets, or direct current via 12 volt outlets or USB ports. I say it’s relatively light because it’s still a 23 kg battery which ultimately feels a bit like a crate of beer.
She charge in less than an hour and his capacity ranges from 1 kWh to 3 kWh if you purchased the battery extensions. Obviously, she integrates into the EcoFlow product ecosystem and can be recharged with a solar panel kit.
There LFP type battery is guaranteed for 10 years and the device works discreetly: less than 20 dB, no smoke or vibration. If I mention this, it is because other emergency solutions exist, such as diesel generators, which make crazy noise, smell bad, smoke and vibrate (Yes like your mother-in-law, but that remains between us.)
Finally, you can track your consumption in the EcoFlow app and even define certain scenarios: like automatic switching on of AC ports in the event of a power outage to make it take over. Be careful, even if it looks like one, it is not a UPS, because it is not able to properly turn off your machines before the end of its battery life.
The unit can handle a cumulative electrical power of up to 3,400 W, costs €2,099 and is guaranteed for 5 years.
EcoFlow Delta 2 Max: in practice
I have been playing around with theEcoFlow Delta 2 Max and since I’m more of a geek than an adventurer, I came up with a few scenarios at home to put into practice, like play with my 65-inch LG OLED television, Xbox and Elden ring home theater on battery ! ; “Survive what!”
Imagine that it works very well and that I have an autonomy of around 8 hours to play in this configuration, I find that really appreciable and pleasant.
Obviously, we can therefore imagine being able to power your office for work, tools in the garden shed, or even equipment during a camping trip: radio, television, lights, etc.
I then asked myself the question: Wouldn’t this be a relevant solution for food trucks? You know those restaurant trucks that we see everywhere and which generally operate with a generator causing noise and olfactory pollution… But, here, it gets stuck, because for the test, I connected 2 auxiliary heaters capable of operating at 1000 W or 2000 W in order to simulate the consumption of cooking accessories: ovens, hotplates, etc. But, in this specific case, the autonomy of the system drops below 60 minutes.
In short, it works very well but during only 58 minutes due to battery capacity and if I turn on both devices to reach 4000W, then the system turns off due to exceeding the limit.
That said, if you have a food truck, you can check out the EcoFlow Delta Pro model, which is a similar product designed for professionals and capable of offering capacities ranging from 3.6 to 25 kWh, or 25 times mine.
EcoFlow Delta 2 Max Review
My opinion for this portable electric station is good: there is obviously cheaper models, others more expensive (including in the EcoFlow offer) and overall, it will depend on the power managed and the capacity of the battery. Arnaud, for example, had the opportunity to test theAnker 535 Powerhouse which performs the same function but which only manages 500 W power level. I find here that EcoFlow brings good points with the finish of the product, its extensibility, its long-lasting guarantees and its ultra-fast charging. To talk about the negative, I find that the whole thing makes a little too much noise: so yes, it’s nothing compared to a group, but I wouldn’t want it in my room or in my office all day so permanent!
For my part, I am enough surprised that such a small device can power my home theater for 8 hours! Is enabling this worth the €2,000 investment? That’s up to you to answer, but as with the EcoFlow Glacier: either it meets a specific need, or you’ve decided to do a little geeky madness.
Don’t hesitate to tell me what you could do with a portable power station, let’s discuss it in the comments!
