Due to the holding of certain Olympic Games events in the park of the Domaine de Versailles, some areas of the Park are not accessible to the public. Visitors, on foot or by bike, are asked not to cross the barriers and social distancing.

The Park of the Palace of Versailles remains open every day, free of charge, and accessible via the Gardens, the Queen’s Gate, the Sailors’ Gate and the Porte St Antoine.

Opening hours, means of transport, programming… We advise you to prepare your visit as best you can and choose the best day, depending on the crowds and the programming.

The days marked by Olympic events can be the subject of heavy traffic on transport, and in the city of Versailles. We advise you to use public transport and plan for longer travel times on test days.

Let’s open the games wide, the castle wide open!

On the occasion of Paris 2024, the Château de Versailles is opening the Domaine wide. From 1er From July to September 8, 2024, the Domaine de Trianon, the Gallery of Sculptures and Casts, the Gallery of Coaches and the Jeu de Paume hall are extending their opening hours and days.

From 1er July to September 8, 2024, the Domaine de Trianon opens from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Tuesday to Sunday.

A few steps from the Palace of Versailles, discover the Domaine de Trianon with the Grand Trianon, the Petit Trianon and the Queen’s Hamlet. Dedicated to the privacy of the sovereigns, these places offer remarkable buildings surrounded by gardens whose variety and pleasure give a very special charm. Louis XIV gave free rein to his love of architecture and gardens by creating an estate reserved for his personal use. Louis XV and then Queen Marie-Antoinette fell in turn under the spell of the place and contributed to its development and embellishment.

  • To visit the Domaine de Trianon, please have a “Domaine de Trianon” ticket or a “Passport” ticket (even if you are entitled to free entry).
  • Opening hours from 1er July to September 8: 10am-6:30pm, Tuesday to Sunday. Last access at 6 p.m.
  • Come to Domaine de Trianon by Petit-Train: first departure at 10:40 a.m. from the Gardens on the Parterre d’eau.
  • From July 27 to August 11 and from September 3 to 7, car access is prohibited in the Park.

The Carriage Gallery with free access

From 1er July to September 8, 2024, The Coach Gallery opens 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Tuesday to Sunday.

Within the Great Stable, a visit to the Coach Gallery allows you to admire the largest royal project ever undertaken to house horses. Majestic carriages or small carriages of Marie-Antoinette’s children, sedan chairs or sleighs forming a strange and wonderful bestiary: the discovery of these works constitutes an exceptional testimony to court life and splendor under the Ancien Régime, the Empire and the Restoration.

  • The Coach Gallery is freely accessible. His visit is without ticket and without reservation.
  • Opening hours from 1er July to September 8: 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Tuesday to Sunday. Last access at 5:45 p.m.
  • On August 3, 10 and 11, the Place d’Arme car park is closed.

The Jeu de Paume room

From 1er July to September 8, 2024, the Jeu de Paume room opens from 12:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., weekends and public holidays.

The date of June 20, 1789 marks the entry of the Jeu de Paume hall of Versailles into the history of France. From an exercise room under Louis XIV, it became the high place of foundation of French democracy, linked to a notable episode of the Revolution.

At the Palace of Versailles, reopening of the Œil-de-Bœuf antechamber

From mid-July 2024

An emblematic room of life at court during the reign of Louis XIV, the Œil-de-Bœuf antechamber has undergone a major restoration. This operation has allowed the woodwork, gilding and painted decor of this masterpiece of decorative arts to be restored. The Château has also secured the King’s apartment, where the famous King’s bedroom is located. From mid-July, both rooms will be accessible.

Exposure Horse in majesty

From July 2 to November 3, 2024 – At the Palace of Versailles

In resonance with the equestrian events of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, the Palace of Versailles presents the exhibition Horse in Majesty – At the Heart of a Civilization. Nearly 300 works thus highlight the place and uses of the horse in civil and military society, over a period from the 16the in the 20the century, until the eve of the First World War, marking the end of horse-drawn civilization and the relegation of the horse to the realm of leisure.

Exposure Eva Jospin – Versailles

From June 18 to September 29, 2024 – At the Orangery of the Palace of Versailles

At the Orangery of the Palace of Versailles, discover the artist Eva Jospin and her work Silk room during the exhibition Eva Jospin–Versailles. Monumental embroidery creation of more than 350 m2 and 107 m long, Chambre de soie will invite visitors to wander around.
