Video games: the latest release dates announced

Between the Summer Game Fest, the Xbox Games Showcase and all the other events at the beginning of June, publishers have revealed the release dates of several upcoming video games. In case you have missed one or more, we suggest you come back to all the new dates to be included in the calendar. If you want to be sure not to miss any, we invite you to take a look at our Agenda.

In July, we will start with a new free-to-play third-person action game from NEXON. Then we will have an investigation game under Unreal Engine 5 taking place in a dystopian future. Then we will have the new creation from A44 Games (Ashen) and a new game from Capcom. In August, there are two new dates to remember, that of a GTA-like in the noir style of the 80s and that of the return of the Mana license.

In September, we will have three new products. We will do Quidditch (the Harry Potter sport). Then we’ll get our minds spinning with the new title from the Age of Mythology license. Finally, we will enjoy a game based on the famous Funko Pop. In October we have five additions, including three returns of known licenses, namely Dragon Ball, Life is Strange and Call of Duty. To this must be added the enriched remaster of Sonic Generations and the arrival of New World on consoles with the Aeternum expansion. We end with three new dates added in November. Those of Avowed, the next Microsoft Flight Simulator and the new game from the creator of Silent Hill.

As always, you can individually add each of these games to your Google, Apple or Outlook calendar. To do this, you just need to press a single button.

The First Descendant (PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series)

NEXON will deliver a new third-person action game that will be playable both solo and up to four in co-op. The goal will be to protect humanity against the invader, which will lead to completing several missions and facing giant bosses. The title, however, has two particularities. The first is that it runs on Unreal Engine 5. The second is that it is free-to-play.

Nobody Wants to Die (PC, PS5, Xbox Series)

Critical Hit Games uses Unreal Engine 5 to develop a dystopian universe in which the richest have access to immortality. The game will propel us into 2329, in New York, in the shoes of James Karra, a detective from the Mortality department who must investigate a dangerous killer. To discover the truth, he will be able to use several advanced technologies that can help him manipulate time.

Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn (PC, PS5, Xbox Series)

A44 Games (Ashen) will offer an action-RPG mixing weapons and magic. In the latter, you will have to fight against ancient gods to try to save humanity. To do this, you will have to play the coalition soldier Nor Vanek who will be accompanied by Enki, a fox-like companion with magical abilities. Progression will take place in an open world made up of three regions.

Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess (PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series)

The Japanese atmosphere is very popular and Capcom’s new game will try to offer an experience that will stand out from the rest by focusing on a single-player game that combines action with strategy. There will be two distinct phases of play, day and night. During the day, you will have to explore a defiled mountain to purify it thanks to Yoshiro and prepare for the evening fight. When night falls, you will have to face the Seethe who will want to attack the young girl. For this, the action will focus on sword dancing combining attacks with the blade and dance techniques inspired by Kagura.

The Precinct (PC, PS5, Xbox Series)

With its GTA-like side, the Fallen Tree Games title will ask you to play the young police officer Nick Cordell Jr. The latter will investigate the murder of his father, killed while on duty. On top of that, he will have to patrol, respond to calls and fight against Averno’s gangs. Note that the game is described as a true ode to classic detective films, which is reinforced by its 80s noir style.

Visions of Mana (PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series)

The Mana license returns with a brand new opus featuring Val and her childhood friend Hina. The latter being designated to be the next offering, the duo goes to the Tree of Mana. The journey will allow them to discover certain truths about the (semi-open) world they will travel through. Several fights will punctuate the adventure and pikuls will act as companions. Note, the soundtrack consists of around a hundred songs.

Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions (PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series)

Quidditch was the big absentee from Hogwarts Legacy. Warner Bros. Games will rectify the situation by offering all fans of this popular sport among wizards and witches a multiplayer game totally dedicated to it. For once, Harry Potter and his friends will be there. The project is in the hands of Unbroken Studios.

Age of Mythology: Retold (PC, Xbox Series)

The license is back with an opus that will play the card of modernity, particularly in terms of visuals and gameplay. Fans can rest assured, World’s Edge still intends to retain the best elements of Age of Mythology from 2002 and several key ingredients of this series of real-time strategy games.

Funko Fusion (PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series)

After having invaded everyone’s stores and interiors, Funko Pops will be back… In a video game. We will find the famous figurines in a third-person action game with a narrative component. Of course, they will be associated with all the pop culture universes that we love, like Jurassic World, Hot Fuzz, Battlestar Galactica, The Thing, Chucky, Invincible and many others.

Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero (PC, PS5, Xbox Series)

This new opus will have the difficult task of following Dragon Ball FighterZ. However, it already has a few strings to its bow since Spike Chunsoft will offer gameplay based on that of the Budokai Tenkaichi series with an impressive cast. The fights will be in 3D, the pace is announced as frantic and the arenas will witness the fights with the traces that will be left.

New World: Aeternum (PC, PS5, Xbox Series)

Welcome to Aeternum, the eternal island, to discover an action-RPG… And more precisely an open world MMO from Amazon Games. The base game New World is already available on PC but the Aeternum update, which will obviously be deployed on this platform, will lead to the arrival of a console version including the base game, the Rise of the Angry expansion and content of the next update.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 (PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series)

This new opus will consist of three major parts. The first will be a campaign from Raven Software plunging us into the events following the fall of the Berlin Wall. The second will be a multiplayer mode developed by Treyarch which will offer 16 maps at launch and a whole new system for travel. The third, still provided by Treyarch, will be the Zombies mode which will benefit from two new maps.

Sonic X Shadow Generations (PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series)

The title compiles the remastering of 2011’s Sonic Generations and new Shadow-centric content. Fans of the blue hedgehog will be able to (re)discover the cult game mixing 2D and 3D levels, all with improved visuals. As a bonus, they will be able to enjoy a new story through an independent adventure featuring Shadow.

Life is Strange: Double Exposure (PC, PS5, Switch, Xbox Series)

Deck Nine (Life is Strange: Before the Storm, LiS: True Colors) will be a sequel to the very first game in the series by DON’T NOD. For once, we will find Max Caulfield in an older version. Her power will have evolved and, when she uses it to try to bring a deceased friend back to life, she will create two worlds with parallel timelines.

Slitterhead (PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series)

This is Keiichiro Toyama’s new project that he is carrying out within his independent studio Bokeh Game Studio. The creator of Silent Hill, Forbidden Siren and Gravity Rush will offer a new horrific game. The particularity of the latter is that it will allow you to have several varied characters, offering a certain range of different skills. Note that Akira Yamaoka, composer of the Silent Hill soundtrack, is also on the project.

Avowed (PC, Xbox Series)

Obsidian Entertainment will offer a new first-person action-RPG that will take place in the fictional world of Eora. This will therefore connect it to the Pillars of Eternity license. You will have to explore the Living Lands and fight various creatures using a diverse arsenal relying on swords, bows, spells and guns, not to mention shields to protect yourself.

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 (PC, Xbox Series)

Building on the success of its flight simulator released in 2020, Asobo Studio will offer a new episode of the license. This time, the Bordeaux studio will focus on the possibility of following a career in the field of aviation. This will have the good consequence of further diversifying the machines to be piloted.
