what to remember from the conferences of June 8

Summer is officially here for gamers. As the sunny days begin to appear, video game enthusiasts are especially delighted to discover the first summer conferences. Now that E3 is officially a thing of the past, gamers now have no choice but to fall back on Summer Game Fest organized by Geoff Keighley, also behind the famous Game Awards.

After a lackluster introduction on Friday evening, the event continued with numerous presentations throughout the day and night this Saturday, June 8. In the last 24 hours, six conferences allowed us to highlight productions from all horizons. With the Devolver Direct, the Future of Play, the Wholesome Direct, the Latin American Games Showcase, the Women-Led Games and the Future Games Show, there are several hours of presentation to catch up on if you weren’t in front of your screen at all time yesterday.

If you don’t have the courage to follow everything before this evening’s new conferences, here is a selection of announcements that caught our attention during this second day of Summer Game Fest.

With its retro and literally candy pink aesthetic (it’s all in the name “Bubblegum”), this production by Smarto Club does not fail to catch the eye. Codex: Eternal Eclipse showed itself through a mysterious trailer that leaves us wanting more. Unfortunately, it is necessary settle for an exit window set for 2025. Hopefully more information will be shared in the coming months.

FREERIDE –Wholesome Direct

In the genre “retro game that generates existential questions”, here is a new major competitor. Revealed several years ago, the famous FREERIDE is soon reaching the end of its development. Screenbound – Future Games Show

What if a platform game took place in two distinct dimensions, what would that look like? This is the question that Screenbound attempts to answer using atypical gameplay that plays with our perception of the environment. After being talked about on the networks, the title of Crescent Moon Games and Those Dang Games was entitled to its moment of glory during the Future Games Show. Can you find your way by following the action on a Gameboy and the world around you? In the absence of a precise release date, patience is therefore required.

Tenjutsu – Devolver Direct

After a beautiful animated cutscene, Tenjutsu revealed its pixelated graphics in total opposition. However, this artistic direction which would almost recall the franchise Hotline Miami seems to offer the title unparalleled fluidity, designed for supercharged gameplay. Weapons and martial arts will be your only tools to put an end to the crime syndicates of Secret Garden City. Regaining control of certain areas will allow you to unlock new improvements and go further in this adventure. Devolver will see us in 2024 on consoles and PC to discover this future gem.

The Crush House – Devolver Direct

Under the guise of a video game adaptation of reality TV, The Crush House seems to hide a strange and macabre secret. During the day, your goal is to capture the most exciting moments of life to explode the audience figures. But at nightfall when the cameras turn off, the dream villa no longer has anything of an enchanting place and is more like a horrifying mansion. This is undoubtedly one of the most original video game pitches in recent years. Yooka Replaylee – Future of Play

If the 2.5D adventure of Nikoderiko isn’t enough to quench your thirst for nostalgia, Playtonic Games has THE game for you. Seven years after its initial release, Yooka Laylee – spiritual heir of Banjo-Kazooie – is back in a remake that promises to be heavy.
