Judo: French women selected for the Olympic Games in preparation in the Basque Country

An Olympic champion at the Angloy dojo! Clarisse Agbegnenou, two-time Olympic champion and six-time -63 kg world champion, entered the Basque dojo with the six other judokas selected by the federation for the Paris Games this summer. One month before the Games, the objective of the week which is ending is to strengthen the bonds of the blue group.

“Even if we are together all year round, we are closing ranks, we are strengthening ties to create even more exchanges,” supports French coach Christophe Massina.“This week was mainly devoted to sporting activities rather than training.“The athletes thus discovered, for some, Basque pelota or even surfing.

“It’s incredible !”

This Tuesday, everyone went to meet the young champions of the Angloy dojo. “I grew up with them”underlines Martin 15 years old. “With these faces, these athletes. We often see them on the internet or the networks and to see them in real life, it’s incredible!”

The seven Olympic selections took part in the game of photos and autographs. An important moment for the Basque champion Sylvain Rouyer, educator at the club: “A face-to-face meeting like this, with great, high-level competitors, allows our young people to project themselves. It allows them to say that they are accessible since they come to a club.” The course ends this Friday evening in Anglet with a yoga session.
