The best “cheap” blender: Russell Hobbs Nutriboost
Benefits
- Many accessories
- Compact
- Effective
- Easy to maintain
Disadvantages
- High noise level
- Lack of manual gear
At the entry level, the versatility and ease of use of the Russell Hobbs Nutriboost blender won us over. With its 700 W, it is efficient while remaining sober: screw-on bowls and no electronic display, just a single button for mixing and grinding food. Despite everything, it allows you to easily make smoothies, but also sauces, soups or more pasty preparations. It’s an excellent device that fully fulfills its contract at a low price!

The best family blender: Moulinex Perfect Mix
The rest under this advertisement
Benefits
- Large total capacity of 2L
- Powerful
- Many speeds
- Solid
Disadvantages
- Weight of the whole thing quite heavy (4.1kg)
- No second bowl
- No need for self-cleaning function
With its power of 1200 W, this Moulinex blender is functional and fast. Its solid stainless steel base and its large capacity heat-resistant glass carafe (1.5 L when mixed, 2 L total) make it a device particularly suitable for family use. In addition, it benefits from numerous programs and a wheel which allows you to adapt the speed to the ingredients to be mixed. Although the whole thing is quite heavy, this quality blender remains easy to use.

The best compact and portable blender: Nutribullet Pro 900
Benefits
- Powerful with its patented cyclonic technology
- Easy maintenance
- Compact
- Quick mixing
Disadvantages
- Lack of manual gear
- Mixing a little difficult to operate
- Noisy
This small Nutribullet Pro 900 blender works by screwing. Compact, quick to mix, easy to maintain but above all powerful, it is an excellent alternative to the Russell Hobbs presented at the start of this top! The recipe book and the nutritional information booklet are most appreciated. The consistency of the preparations is a little more difficult to manage than with other blenders and the bowl can encounter a little resistance when turning it: we need both hands, securing the device.

Our testing process

To determine the quality of the blenders we tested, we first took into account their design (weight, size and robustness), as well as their ergonomics and ease of use.
We then evaluated their performance and tested their functionality by making fruit and vegetable smoothies and crushing ice.
6 key criteria for choosing your blender
Choosing a blender is not necessarily easy… Many devices are available on the market and it is easy to get lost. Our advice: make a list of the desired features of your device.
It will then be easier for you to direct your search. With screws or a classic bowl, with buttons or a wheel, your blender must correspond to the use you will have of it… But it will always be more affordable and more practical than a multifunction robot!
According to our product experts, here are the key criteria to consider when choosing your blender.
1 – The type of bowl and its size
- A thick, rigid plastic bowl or pitcher is preferred if you plan to take your preparation with you: some models have suitable lids so that the smoothie or juice can be consumed directly using a “bottle” mode.
- On the other hand, for better durability and work with a wide range of mixtures and textures, a heat-resistant glass bowl will be preferable, both from a hygienic and ecological point of view.
- In any case, choose the size that suits your needs: a large blender will be perfect for making smoothies and soups while a smaller appliance will be appreciated for sauces and vinaigrettes.

2 – Engine power
- Of course, this only concerns electric blenders. The motor power you need depends on how you will use your device. The more juice you want to squeeze, the more power you will need. In all cases, we recommend a power of at least 500 W.
- Good to know: the power of the motor determines the quantity of juice that will be extracted from the pulp (the more powerful the motor, the more dry the pulp will be and therefore the more juice you will have extracted).
3 – The design of the device
- If you choose a blender with a large capacity bowl, we recommend a model that attaches from the bottom and opens from the top. It will be easier for you to add food while mixing: no need to stop your appliance each time!
- On the other hand, “head down” screw models are very practical for smaller quantities, and their mixing power is generally better.
4 – The number of speeds
- For a very homogeneous mixture, it is better to choose a blender with several speeds: four to five speeds is ideal in our opinion.
- The different speeds of the device will allow you to adapt the device to the preparation you are making, for a final texture as close as possible to your expectations. The more speeds, the more homogeneous the mixture.
- Some devices are capable of automatically adjusting their mixing speed to the density of the preparation present in the bowl.

5 – Ease of maintenance
- Nothing is more unpleasant than difficult cleaning: blenders are notorious for having small corners that are difficult to access.
- Fortunately, contemporary models are much simpler to clean than those of yesteryear: often compatible with the dishwasher, they are generally removable. Be sure to clean each element separately each time, and reassemble the seal correctly to avoid loss of sealing.
- Some devices even come with a self-cleaning feature, which can make your job easier.
6 – Noise
- A powerful device generally means a noisy device… and a blender is a very powerful little device!
- Consider the noise pollution of your future blender, especially if you want to use it in the morning when the rest of the house is still sleeping.
