Tolkien’s work has long had a reputation for being unadaptable. Since the acquisition announcement came in February 2023, not much information has been given about this film series. The only information revealed is that the series will be based on The Lord of the Rings And The Hobbit rather than other works by Tolkien. This has led many to wonder if the planned series will be a remake of Peter Jackson’s original two trilogies, given Hollywood’s trend toward remakes as of late.
Lord of the Rings: Tales of the Shire and the still secret game
Wētā Workshop, the New Zealand company that produced the costumes, armor, weapons, creatures, models and the numerous special effects of Peter Jackson’s 6 films, launched into the development of video games. Weta has already announced 2 games around the universe of JRR Tolkien.
By the end of 2024, we should be able to discover Tales of the Shirewhich should arrive on PC and consoles, and immerse us in a very “feel good” universe of Hobbits and their peaceful life in the Shire (and we talked about it in more detail right there).
